Boulder part 3: caffine high and cheap eats

Don't cry. I know this is my last Boulder post, but think of it as saving the best for last! My most important meal of the day is coffee, obviously! Boulder has some outstanding coffee and tea spots and of course I threw in some additional cheap eats perfect for lunch or a quick bite!

For the scholar: Trident Booksellers and Cafe
If you're looking to get some face time in with your laptop or dive into a book this is the spot for you.  Their coffee is great and like the name states it's half coffee shop, half book store. I choose to go with the cappuccino and my man went with a hot chocolate coffee combo called a barbajada. This is a genuine coffee shop and if your off Pearl Street you should check it out.

Tea Heaven: Ku Cha House of Tea
Even if your not a big tea drinker, you will be transformed after a visit to Ku Cha House of Tea. There are what feels like hundreds of teas to choose from, but I have found my favorite, toasted almond. You can order a cup or a pot and sit for hours. They re-steep your tea and their tea room is one of the most relaxing places I've been in a while. You will find no one here on a laptop aggressively typing, just friends sharing good conversation. This is a place to decompress and relax if you can't take a float in a sensory deprivation tank 😉

Flatiron Coffee
I discovered this spot on Yelp and took a jog to the other side of the boulder campus, I think. Honestly, University of Colorado Boulder is basically the entire city. Located on the east side of Boulder you can find Flatiron Coffee. The baristas were so nice and suggested I try the Vanilla cinnamon cappuccino and it didn't disappoint! This quaint coffee shop is perfect to sit and enjoy a good book or even one of the many board games they have on their book shelves. A bright and welcoming cafe, you can get some work done or have a nice afternoon with a friend. This is the every mans coffee shop.

Instagram Worthy Coffee and Breakfast: Alpine Modern
This trendy coffee shop is a bit pricier, but also offers insta classics like avocado toast and a variety of granola bowls. The coffee is good and the interior has perfect lighting for that #coffeetime post. There are two locations in Boulder. This location is off College Ave. It had a great outdoor seating area with a fire place and blankets to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains. The other location is off Pearl Street.

We ordered avocado toast, some pastry, americanos and a spicy chai.

On another visit we went with a regular drip coffee and a granola bowl to go.
This little fireplace was so cozy when enjoying my morning cup!

Elegant Tea Experience: Dushanbe Tea House
Transport yourself to another world inside Dushanbe Tea House. The history of this tea house is interesting enough on its own. I will give you the readers digest version, Dushanbe is the sister city to Boulder and as a gift they built this gorgeous tea house. The inside is breath taking and it is a few blocks from Pearl Street. We just got a few pots of tea to share, but you can indulge is some delicious treats and desserts to accompany your tea. Even if you just go to look at the detailed walls, more like art it is worth the walk by!

As previously stated, the interior is breath taking. The details and craftsmanship is out of this world.

I mean look at the ceiling, just beautiful.

 Empanadas
Who doesn't like an empanada? These light, crispy pillows of goodness do not disappoint. They even have a discount if you order 12! We took advantage of the deal and tried basically everything. My personal favorites were the BBQ chicken and spicy steak! They also offer some other delicious tortas, tasty desserts and cheap beer! Another spot to hit up before or after a hike to make you and your stomach a happy camper, or hiker, or skier or really just a happy person. Close to Flatiron Coffee on the East side of town.

Look at those crispy meat pillows!

Chinese or noodle shop, that is the question?: Zoe Ma Ma
The last place on my list is Zoe Ma Ma. This highly reviewed Chinese food restaurant made me question what qualifies as Chinese. More of a noodle shop in my opinion, this cheap eat spot was perfect on a cool afternoon in Colorado. Insiders tip, they have a scallion pancake that is off menu and I suggest ordering it!  The soups had a Vietnamese feel, using lots of fresh veggies and a light broth! Again, this is not what I would consider traditional Chinese cuisine, but damn good and a perfect cheap eat! My favorite was the Dan Dan noodles, scallion pancake and the chicken and potatoes with rice.
