boulder travels part 2: From 3-6
When one thinks of Colorado, you may think of some healthy outdoors-men type. Someone who hikes and skis on the weekend, drinks kombucha and follows a vegan diet, the epitome of health. This is not the total case when dining in Boulder. Now the people are damn healthy and do like to participate in outdoorsy activities, but when it comes to eating they sure do know how to make some damn good food!
Of course we ate a lot... so much so I am forced to write a second post about all about coffee, tea and other cheap eats. One may think this a bad thing, but for those traveling to the rocky city your in luck!
So if you've gotten to know me through my posts you know I love a good happy hour! And Boulder sure does have some amazing happy hours. Round one focuses mainly on happy hours and dinner spots.
Brasserie Ten Ten
This first stop was the best happy hour we tried, we actually went twice it was so good! I present to you Brasserie Ten Ten. This bistro style happy hour was out of this world. Their happy hour menu was extensive and portion sizes perfect for sharing! The first night we got a mix of cheese, meat and seafood. Our favorite was the mussels, the broth was perfect for dipping ones bread! Also, you can get bone marrow for $7, I mean you can't go wrong! 4 drinks, 7 dishes all came to $60, for a dinner for four it was perfect and we all walked away happy with growing food babies! The second night we tried their sliders, getting the mussels again, another superb dining experience! All I can say is everything was amazing and you just need to go! Bonus, happy hour was served throughout the restaurant, you didn't just have to sit at the bar. The bar was on the smaller size so if you have a bigger party your in luck and can actually sit while your dine!
West End Tavern
The next spot we went to for drinks was West End Tavern. We actually found out they had two happy hours, a normal 3-6ish and then a late night 10-11ish. We went back for the late night HH and got their pecan pie, sorry no pictures available, but I can say that it was filled with pecans and was a huge slice. Perfectly paired with a stout! Their happy hour menu was small, but perfect for late night munchies!
The Med
A sister happy hour to Brasseire Ten Ten I bring you to The Med. If I'm being honest is wasn't as good as Brasseire, but you can't eat at the same spot every night, but second best in the happy hour game! Their food is a mix of literally every country that is off the Mediterranean sea or close to it. Their happy hour menu was divided into hot and cold tapas. We went for all hot tapas and of course had to try the mussels again. We also tried the meat balls, lamb salad, grilled shrimp and pastille. Their portions were smaller and perfect for a date night! This place was packed and if I ever went again I would have tried the pizza. They have a wood-burning oven near the bar, some dining entertainment while you wait! I really love anywhere you can watch people prepare your food!
The Liquor Mart
Not A Happy Hour, but such a good booze selection! They had a great local brew section and is worth checking out if your in town for a long time or just want to grab some cheaper beers. Also, a great photo shoot spot!
An Italian feast: Pasta Jays
This is another great dinner spot. Not a happy hour, sad I know, but Pasta Jays was an awesome Italian restaurant, perfect for carb-o-loading before a day of hiking or skiing, if your into that. Personally, I like carb-o-loading and Netflixing, but to each their own. We stumbled upon this restaurant on our last night in Boulder. We didn't get out of the house till 9:30 and this place still had a wait, that is always promising! They had a huge menu, filled with pastas, pizzas and really any thing under the Tuscan sun. As per usual we ordered enough to feed 3 families, but when in Rome, or when on vacation eating Italian. I honest can't remember what we really got, the pasta and sauce got to my head and by the end of the meal I was in a food coma daze that resulted in a bear like hibernation.
For your Sweet Tooth: The Kitchen
The Kitchen is not a dessert only restaurant, but all we feasted on was a plethora of desserts! My husband found out that they had a toffee pudding and we had, I mean HAD to try it. We have been on the search for an equal to the toffee pudding we had in London (check out the post) so basically anywhere they serve it we try it! We also tried their apple crisp, chocolate and mango ice cream and butter scotch pudding. All were very delicious and if it was just the two of us we would have ordered just one thing to split. Their cocktail menu was also really nice and had some interesting drinks as well, I stuck with coffee! Unfortunately the toffee pudding did not hold a candle to our London experience, but was still damn good!
Southern Feels: The Post
If your from the south, hell if your a human who likes meat, you will like this fried chicken. It was crispy and crunchy, moist ( weird word I know) and just freak good! In true form we ordered the Family Love that came with two sides and can feed 4+! I suggest you opt for this option because who doesn't like left overs! The leftovers were amazing too! My man made a breakfast sandwich and was in heaven. Our real reason for coming to The Post was for Harry Potter Trivia night, a weekly occurrence ( the trivia , not just Harry Potter) and so much fun! They are a brewery as well and their beers were just as good as their fried chicken! Please check this spot out, it will please you on many levels trust me!
Sweet tooth round 2: Pizza Colore
All I can say is post bar cannolis. The end.
Beer Beer and More Beer!: Avery Brewing Company
Outside of Boulder you will find Avery Brewing Company. About a 20 minute drive, so please take an Uber or find a pregnant lady to drive you cause you will need it! I think they had at least 20+ beers on tap and they are all amazing. This is the brewery of all breweries. You can even explore their facilities and see all the tanks and even peek into their lab where they are hard at work creating tasty beers just for you! This place gets busy on a nice day so if you want outdoor seating go early! They also allow dogs so bring your furry friend, or a hairy friend you like to keep outside, your choice!
Part 3 coming soon! Even more amazing places to eat and check out!

Our spread. There are two types of mussels and we ordered both! From left to right, curry cauliflower, bone marrow, mussels, fries, anchovies, and warm brie. |

Sangria and Margarita. I think next time I would have just gotten a beer. They were good, but kinda sweet. The Margarita was really strong so that was a plus! |

Photo is not the best, but here is the toffee pudding. This had pecans and what tasted like orange zest. It was light and fluffy with some, I think house made vanilla ice cream! |

Look at these beautiful plates. This bird did not die in vane. It would be proud it was made into such a tasty meal! |
