Cinco De Mayo Best beer for your buck!
So Cinco De Mayo is this weekend and well who doesn't like a holiday that college students take and turn into a drinking holiday, knowing little to no history except to wear racially inappropriate outfits and get hammered. After saying all that I'll still go out and have a good time, because why the hell not! In preparation for parties and BBQs I took it upon myself to taste test and review 4 budget friendly beers you maybe debating on purchasing this weekend! All of these you can find at your local grocery store or mini mart. I chose these because of their price and the variety of options.
I am also doing some baking so mind the cake and brown mix....This is my fake alligator skull, it is plastic so please don't think I own an actual alligator skull! |
This is the cheapest of all the options. It's similar to a Busch or Natural Light beer. It cost $7.99 for a six pack of 16oz cans and I don't even think this comes in bottles. It has 4.5% ABV. If you want to be festive give it a try, but you can get the same taste and price in the beers stated above. Dealers choice.
MICHELOB ULTRA: LIME CACTUS
This is by far my favorite. I love lime beers, #1 you don't have to have limes and #2 this is a low carb beer so I can keep my bikini bod in check! Only $8.99 a six pack it has a nice crisp lime flavor. Sometimes if I'm feeling fancy I add a lime wedge to give it even more zing! Men don't be scared, this is a good ass beer, for what it is, and it's the second cheapest option! Also, at only 4% ABV you can drink a handful and not have to throw up, which is always a plus! Honestly, this is my weeknight beer, its cheap and good!
CORONA
Most of you have had a Corona, this pale lager is always a good go to option for a summer beer in general. Honestly, it does taste better with a lime, so if your going to drink it that way, try the Michelob Ultra and switch it up. It is also the most expensive beer out of the 4, costing $10.50 for a six pack. My cheap ass went with the $3, 24oz option, for the purposes of taste testing. It has a bit of an after taste in my opinion, but still a nice easy drinking beer.
DOS EQUIS: AMBER
I decided to switch it up for you with the Dos Equis amber. At $9.49 a six pack, it's something other than a light beer if you prefer something darker. It has strong caramel flavor and sweet after taste. Honestly, is not something I'd drink all day if I was at a BBQ. But, if you are throwing a party and want to have some more options or something different its a good choice! Again, definitely has a sweeter taste, but still light. Final thoughts:
Michelob Ultra Lime is the best bang for your buck. You get a flavored light beer, that won't break your bank or add to your beer belly. Leaving you room for more guac or beer, or both!
Corona is the priciest, but a safe bet. YOU NEED LIMES though! So add another dollar to your tab, setting you back about $12 for a six pack and limes.
Tecate is if your having a big party and don't want to spend a lot on beer for people. Make those bastards bring their own!
Dos Equis amber is if your looking for something other than a pale lager.
