Denver Layover
If you are a frequent flier, or ever fly cross country, you are likely, at some point to take a stop at the Denver International Airport. If you happen to have a long layover there are some cool spots you should check out!
The Source
The source is located in a pretty cool up and coming area of Denver the RiNo Art District.
When you walk into this small market hall, there are multiple restaurants and shops in one area and you can order and sit in the brewery and enjoy your food! There is also a hotel attached so if your looking for a place to stay this wouldn't be a bad spot. It's also close to a few breweries, all within walking distance.
We choose to eat at Comida and they were able to serve us at the brewery Crooked Stave. First let me dive into the food! For starters we ordered the Salty Roasted JalapeƱos and the Chips and Comida Salsas ( you pick three, we went with the pineapple habanero salsa, carrot habanero salsa, and the pico de gallo). As for tacos we went with the Stella’s Pork Carnitas, Sombra Shroom , Camarones a la Diabla, Arrachera and the Chimayo Chile Roasted Chicken Griddled Taco.
WARNING: The roasted jalapenos were spicy as shit and they were amazing. The gamble with a dish like this is one batch can be spicy and the other can be much milder so for the adventurous eater this is a must. For someone not looking to pull a man verse food situation be careful! We went with my sister-in-laws boyfriend, who is not a spicy food person and well he had a hell of a time to say the least.
The salsas were amazing, I wish I could have tried them all! Ask your waitress for suggestions if your not into the habanero thing!
Now on to the tacos. The griddled taco was my least favorite and it was still amazing, just a heavier option. It is smothered in creamy sauces, so you may only be able to down two instead of four regular tacos. My two favorite were the shrimp and the carnitas. If you can't tell I like spicy and boy the shrimp put me in spicy heaven!
Beer, beer and more beer! Crooked Stave had an amazing selection of sour beers, basically everything was a sour beer. I went with the Sour Rose, but I also got to try the Sour blueberry and we got two others and I honestly can't remember, but they were all epic and I was converted to a sour beer enthusiast! I wish I would have done a flight, so if you happen to go try a flight instead cause there are too many amazing beers to choose just one or two! Unless your trying to get down and then I say go for the full pours!
Voo Doo Doughnut
I know this is a Portland treasure, but I don't see myself getting to Portland anytime soon, so we had to try it! The doughnuts were dangerously sweet and that was not a bad thing. There are so many to choose from you have to get at least a 1/2 dozen or more! I am a buttermilk bar girl and I just can't find them in my neighborhood, so I was in heaven! I literally had a moment it was so good! It was rich and buttery and I could only eat half before feeling a sugar rush coming on, but it was magical!

We also got a triple chocolate, mango, raspberry fill glazed, strawberry sprinkle and a few others. They were all fun and tasty. But be careful cause some of them were so sweet we could only handle a bite or so, another reason to get a few!
Great Divide Brewing Company
So they close at 8:00 on Sundays so we missed going here, but their beer is amazing and you should totally go. Just not on a Sunday after 8:00. This was very saddening to me and I can no longer talk about it, but I do love how their tanks were outside. It made the whole block smell like beer!
Jagged Mountain Brewery
Not closed at 8:00 on a Sunday we headed to Jagged Mountain. This place was really chill and had some fun beers. They had a wide selection and we made sure not make the same mistake twice. So we went with two flights to try almost everything they had on tap. Our favorites were Tequila Mountain and Hurricane Haze. Uber Slayer was also good! They also had this one called Waffle Stomp and it was this crazy syrup beer that was insane.
Glorious isn't it!!
Again we were only in Denver for a total of 5 hours or so, so we only got to check out a few places, but they were all legit, making me want to go back and further explore this wonderful city!
