cape cod recreational activities ... the adult addition

This past weekend I was lucky enough to spend sometime in Cape Cod. Let me preface this with the fact that going to Cape Cod in November is not the most lively time to go, BUT in a way I was glad I got to see this area not in the height of the season so I can fully take it in and see what it had offer without being driven insane by massive crowds and people with kids (no offensive to those of you who have kids).

I will start this two part travel series with “recreational activities" . Many of these "activities" are of the adult nature so please be warned one must be 21 or older to continue reading…

Our first stop was our night in Provincetown Cape Cod. This was by far my favorite place and I’m so excited to plan a trip back up in May or June (pre-crazy crowds season). This was the cutest, walk-able beach town, you park your car and really don’t need to get back in it until you leave. We stayed at a bed-and-breakfast called the Prince Albert and it was perfect. The rooms were comfortable and cozy. The owner Paul was so nice and accommodating. Like most bed-and-breakfasts it came with breakfast obviously, but he also offered a happy hour which my travel companions and I were very happy to indulge in.

Prince Albert is located off Commercial Street so all we had to do was walk out the front door, take a left and we were in the thick of Provincetown shopping, restaurants, bars and everything you can imagine. Because it is November though many of the shops are closed, BUT the shop that were open all were having big sales so in a way going in November wasn’t too bad of an idea if you’re looking for a steal of a deal. They were a two bars we went to the first was 1620 Brewhouse, off of commercial st. This was perfect for the cold overcast day to just sit and drink a few beers and enjoy each other’s company. Also they had a ton of Massachusetts and New England beers I had never hear of or ever tried so it was fun to do some exploring in a sense.

My flight from 1620 Brewhouse!

Our other libation stop in Provincetown was the Squealing Pig! We had dinner here as well, but damn do they serve a stiff drink! Unfortunately, I have no good photos, but trust me my pint size cocktail was amazing!

The next morning we woke up early and we took a quick drive to the beach, it was empty and cold, but so beautiful! I can only imagine how crazy crowded it gets in the summer so it was nice to feel like we had it all to ourselves!

Next stop Chatham, this is located in the elbow of the cape and is filled with spacious resorts. A big difference from the cozy walk-able Provincetown. I tried reenacting the movie Summer Catch with my husband, but he wasn’t into it.... On our first night in Chatham we went to Hog-island brewery and got to taste all they had to offer in terms of amazing beers! Honestly, I can remember which one was my favorite, but the brewery had a tasting room and sit down tavern area so no mater who your traveling with they can have a good time. They also had tons of games so if you have small humans they can be entertained!

While in Chatham we stayed at the Wequassett Resort. This 5 star, uber fancy resort, reminded me of the movie The In Crowd. It had gorgeous views, molten brown shampoo in the bathroom and a reasonably priced mini bar, but I think that’s where the reasonable prices ended. I have no idea what the summer pricing is to stay here, but I can only imagine... This place was gorgeous, and I will probably never stay in a place like it for a very long time, but the staff was amazing and our friends wedding we attended was immaculate. Now again in the summer this would be out of my price range, but again those winter deals can help out! I was talking to one of the staff members, kind of asking her about the best times to visit and how crazy it really gets in the summer. She said that the resort does shut down right before Christmas and doesn’t reopen until March or April, all I could think of with the shining but it does make sense. I don’t think most people want to visit when it's snowy and cold since the resort is designed like mini houses/ cottages that you have to walk outside to get to anywhere else in the resort.

On our last day we ventured back to Boston where we explored the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, which I suggest eating at since there are so many options! Also it's a 4 minute walk to this bar called Tiki Rock. I was in heaven the interior was tropical theme and clean, a rarity in my book when going to a more traditional dive bar tiki bar. The drinks were stiff and I was feeling good to get on my flight! If your like me and need some liquid courage to fly swing by Tiki Rock cause you’ll be good to go after one of their many cocktails!

Part 2 will be coming soon and will be all about the delicious food one can indulge in when in this amazing part of the east coast!
