Now on to food, something everyone can indulge in!
After getting off our way to early morning flight to Boston we hit up
The Friendly Toast for breakfast. This was a random yelp search of what had good reviews and was open at 8:00 and to our surprise had a 30 minute wait on a Friday morning. This place is a MUST, their menu is fun and there is something for everyone. Let me not forget their cocktail menu was on point and for a group that was ready to get the party started this was a perfect way to start our trip! I went with the bloody mary flight, since tomatoes are good for you! Right?? Our friends went with the mimosa flight, both good choices in my opinion! As for food I tried to keep it simple since it was going to be a long weekend and went with a scramble, sounds simple but was delicious. My man went with the chicken and waffles, it had this amazing sweet potato mash under it that was next level. Our other friend went with the donuts breakfast sandwich thing which looked amazing, but the real show stopper was this habanero jam that came with her meal that we all wish we got a side of! Please go here, it was my favorite spot of the whole trip! DON'T FORGET THE HABANERO JAM!

My scramble, had this amazing salsa verde, and the toast was perfect! |

There is the habanero jelly that you need a side of, you can put it on anything! |
|
The Bacon bloody mary was my favorite.... just in case you were wondering |
About 2 hours later we made it to Provincetown and we desperately needed some coffee! We headed to KoHL, right off commercial street, which had a strong Americano and a great view of the Bay. It was tiny, but lucky for us it's the off season so we had the place to ourselves! We probably could have sat outside, but it was cold and taking a break from the windy outdoors was nice.

Even if the coffee sucked, which is impossible, the view was worth it! |

I always fill my coffee to the brim, I like to live on the edge when I walk to my seat praying the scolding hot coffee doesn't spill all over me. |
After a nice jaunt along commercial street. We headed to 1620 Brewhouse. The beer selection was big and had a lot of good local options. Their fried pickles and garlic fries were a perfect pre-dinner treat!
There is something about beach towns and fudge. I don't know if it's all the salty water that makes people crave chocolate or what, but
Provincetown Fudge Factory had a great selection and the inside was clean and chic! Located off commercial street, shocker I know, they have something for everyone! Also, I noticed that peanut butter cups are a big thing here, I never got to the bottom of it, but their chocolate covered smore and pecan turtle was perfect after a night of drinking!

YES, just yes! |
For dinner we headed to The Squealing Pig and split the fried clam sandwich. They were generous with the clams and if you remember form my previous post they know how to pour a stiff drink. This place was packed and that's saying a lot since we were there in the off season. I can only imagine what its like during the middle of the summer! This is a must if your in Provincetown for sure!

yeah this is what you get after a pint glass sized cocktail and want to take a picture of the restaurant, my apologies! |
On our second day we headed to Chatham where our friends were getting married. We met up with some more friends at the
Impudent Oyster, one of the many over priced restaurants in the area, but I suppose that is to be expected. The interior was great, old wooden bar with a WASPY appeal. They got my order wrong, but I hate complaining and just accepted what they brought me. I have learned I have an allergy to shell fish and after eating the clams, with a mild skin breakout I went with a boring turkey sandwich. Everyone else indulged in the lobster roll, scallop roll, Thai shrimp noodle salad, and something else I honestly can't remember. At the end of the day I'd say skip this place, it was fine but nothing to write home about. I'm also into more hole in the wall kinda places and lets face it this was just not my kinda joint. So if your into over priced food than go for it!

the wrong turkey sandwich. |
|
scallop roll, too much roll. |
|
lobster roll, the roll is under the lettuce |
|
Thai shrimp salad, I think they call it Thai cause they threw some peanuts on it and some cilantro. Other than that it seemed like a shrimp salad. |
Later that evening we ate at Hogisland Brewery and I forgot to take pictures, but it was good old fashion bar food !
The next morning, slightly hungover and in need of some sustenance we went to The Chatham Filling Station. I went with an omelet and it was pretty damn good. Fluffy eggs and good home-fries. My man went with the huevos rancheros, decent for a New England breakfast spot. Our friends got the breakfast sandwich which was okay, the bacon jam was too smokey so I'd say ask for it on the side. Reasonably priced for the area and the food was good, I'd totally go back!

my fluffy omelet |
|
the bacon jam i was telling you about... eh |
|
huevos rancheros |
We also went to this super cute coffee shop, Snowy Owl, that is a small chain in the area. We just went with Americanos, but the atmosphere was my favorite part! It was nice just to sit in a cozy coffee shop and just enjoy to morning!

Again gotta get it to the brim |
On our journey back to Boston we swung by their Chinatown area and stopped at
Gourmet Dumpling House. As per usual we over ordered. Their dumpling were good, my favorite were the wontons with chili oil. We got some beef and noodle dish that was also a good choice for anyone. The dumpling dough for the soup dumpling was a little thick, but it was a good greasy meal to soak up all the drinking we had done the night before at the wedding!
|
You must order the wontons with chili oil! |
Before catching our flight, Tom ran to
Mike's Pastry and got a cannoli and Boston creme pie and it didn't disappoint. I myself am not a cannoli person, but it was still good. I LOVED the Boston cream pie though and had to fight tom for the last bites!
All in all it was a good food adventure. From Boston to the Cape there are a lot of good food options for everyone!
