The finale.... The wait part 2 lobster roll addition
The final Portland post and It's dinner time! This last post is all about lobster rolls and seafood, but mostly lobster rolls.
Portland Lobser co.
Right off of Commercial street, on the water, you can get your lobster on at Portland Lobster co. I went with the lobster roll, but if your counting carbs you can order a whole lobster as well! This was one of my favorite lobster rolls of the whole trip. They gave you huge chunks of lobster meat and it was delicious. Very traditional and simple, but with something like lobster I feel like keeping it simple is the way to go. My only complaint is I wish the bun was toasted, but the lobster was so delicious it honestly didn't matter. They also have live music and just sitting on the water was just a perfect experience.
Gilbert's Chowder House
This was my sanctuary. After the brew tour, wild eyed with hunger Gilbert's was perfect for my needs. Obviously I got their clam chowder and it was amazing, rich and creamy but had nice chunks of clams and veggies. We also got the fried clams, which honestly are always a good choice and a side of onion rings that were perfectly coated and fried! Another hot spot off Commercial street in the down town area. They do have outdoor seating that I believe looks out to the water, but we went inside cause I'm tell you the hunger was real!
Eventide
I don't even know where to begin... This is a hot spot to go to in downtown Portland. Their menu has an Asia influence and like I said earlier sometime less is more when it comes to good seafood.
The Brown Butter Lobster roll is next level, but it's small compared to the other places I went and the line is long! This is one of those hour + wait spots. Unless you plan on taking advantage of their standing room, plan to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour even for two. We also went with the corn and chips. Both were fine, but a little disappointing. The corn was covered in a ginger style sauce which I just wasn't into and I love ginger. The chips were good and came with a fun dipping sauce, but wasn't anything to write home about.
Honestly, order some oysters and lobster roll or just grab the lobster roll as a snack. Their tiki drinks also looked amazing, again I had drank a lot and just needed water, but save a drink for here!
Andy's Old Port Pub
The final dining stop.
I know I may sound crazy saying I was tired of lobster, but I was and I went with the crab cake, but we did order a lobster roll too and I snagged a bite. It's hard comparing this crab cake when I'm spoiled with Maryland crab cakes at home, but it was a good change of pace. Crispy and flavorful! The lobster roll was good too, but this seemed like a better spot for a quick drink. If your looking for the best of the best I'd say wait in line somewhere else and just grab a drink here.

Traditionally comes with fries, but I was saving calories for beer and went with a side salad instead. |
