Dutch market trip
This week I took a little trip to the Lancaster County Dutch Market in Germantown MD and let me tell you I gain 5 lbs just walking through the door. Everything here is homemade and delicious and as per usual I tried just about everything I could! The Market consists of 11 vendors varying from BBQ, cheese, donuts and other grocery items. If you ever find yourself in the area you need to check it out!
First stop was King's Barbecue Pit, and I didn't even get BBQ. It's all about the fried chicken. First that's all anyone was ordering so you know it's the right choice! You can get an 8 piece of juicy, crispy, flavorful chicken for $11. That's a damn good deal! Their chicken is perfectly breaded, not to much and well spiced. It's the kind of fried chicken that needs no sauce!
After I filled up on fried chicken I headed over to Beiler's doughnuts to grab my husband an apple fritter cause he's obsessed! But, all their donuts were massive and they had a ton of fun flavors like salted caramel and smores. They also offer some of the best variety of breads, pies and other sweets! I picked up their gourmet apple bread and a sticky bun, both taking a few years off my life but totally worth every calorie!
When you first walk in the door you will see Zapp's Pretzels and this is a must! They are sweet and salty, soft and golden brown. Everything you want in a soft pretzel and they sell like hot cakes. I went on a Thursday afternoon and they couldn't keep them on the trays long enough. The line was wrapped around to the next vendor and didn't let up!
The last vendor I tried was Zook's Cheese. I didn't buy anything since I ate about 5,000 calories of sweet breads and fried foods, but I did try some samples and good god that cheese was good!
