Easy cocktails: moscow mules & Gin and tonic

Just a heads up I am writing this after making and taste testing these drinks so ..... yeah it might get a little dicey.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized rail bourbon and ginger ale or cheap champagne & orange juice shouldn't be my go to cocktails when entertaining. So I basically looked up , what seemed like, the second easiest drinks to make and I present to you with the Moscow Mule and Gin and Tonic!  Not only are these drinks easy AF to make BUT they are also damn good!! You don’t even need a proper bar kit, just a shot glass and drinking glasses! Also, It's fun to feel like you can play bartender to your guests instead of just making jungle juice and thanking god for UBER!

First up the Moscow mule! This is one of my favorite drinks in general and when I saw how easy they are to make I now refuse to order them at a bar on principle! I want my bartender to work a little harder, but I digress. If you've ever checked out my previous posts you know I hate complicated directions and like to keep it simple. I have little patience...

Ingredients:
1 part vodka
2 parts ginger beer (fever- tree)
1/2-1 lime depending on your lime preference

To make this I use a double shot of vodka  and two double shots of ginger beer.  I use fever tree ginger beer, but what ever you can pick up at your local grocery store will work! But make sure it's GINGER BEER not ginger-ale they are two totally different things!  I like a lot of lime so I squeeze a whole lime in mine then stir to chill and your done!! If you want to throw in a lime wedge or some sliced ginger as a garnish get fancy girl!  You can use a mule glass if you have one, I found mine at Homegoods for pretty cheap, but honestly a regular glass works just as well.

Next up,  the gin and tonic! This is a classic and in the summer months is super refreshing. It's also easy to get fancy with it!

Ingredients:
1 part gin
2 parts tonic (honestly giant brand works)
Lime wedge

Just like the Mule , using a double shot glass to measure, I use one shot gin and two shots tonic. The only difference is I only use a lime wedge since this drink doesn’t need that much lime!

If you want to get a little fancy muddle, or smash, some mint and sliced cucumber to your glass using a wooden spoon or fork. Add some ice,  your gin and tonic and now you have a Cucumber Tonic. You'll also leave your friends in shock that you know how to make something other than a beer!
