Valentines in a box; The brownie addition

Valentines Day can be a mother fucker sometimes, but who can't use some brownies? If you end up making them for a significant other,  co-workers or even for yourself to face while watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix, these will surely be enjoyed.

So here's what you need:
  • Brownie mix
  • Heart shaped cookie cutters
  • Chocolate chips
  • Heavy cream
  • Toppings of your choice ( I used sprinkles and Oreos)
Like all my desserts I start with a box, specifically Duncan and Hines Fudge brownies. I think I've said this before and I'll say it again, Duncan Hines is the best brownie mix. I ended up using two 9in round pans, cause that's what I had, but use what you got. For normal brownies I pour all the batter in one pan, but because I was dipping them I wanted them to be less thick and cooked through a bit more, I split the batter in two pans. WARNING: these are not as gooey as I normally make brownies.

The cook time was about 20 minutes and they came out perfect, just check them periodically depending on your oven. Let them cool a bit before using your cookie cutter. I tried to fit as many hearts as a could, I ended up with about 12 medium and 2 small hearts. I used a small knife to cut along the end to make them as clean as possible, then used my hands I gently pat in the crumbs on the sides.

Now it's  time to get fancy as hell.  It's ganache time! You don't need to really measure out the heavy cream to chocolate ratio, but it's about 1:2, cream to chocolate. Just know the  more chocolate = thicker ganache. Once is looks to your liking, let it cool for about 5 minutes before dipping your brownies. Now it's time to get crazy, dipping you brownies and covering them with decorations!

This is so easy and can be used for any holiday! Hope you try it out sometime and enjoy your Valentines day filled with love, cheap candy and nauseating romantic gestures that will be displayed all over the social media.
