All the things you've read about dairy are true.... Real talk
Let me start this by saying I have adult acne, and it's gotten to
the point that I don't wear make-up to work (except my eyebrows and
liner of course, I'm not an animal!) and even on the weekend I only wear
it for my excursions and then once home I immediately wash my face! I'm
sure I'm a bit overboard when I comes to my acne routine, but clear
skin is better than any makeup! For me at least.
Before I go on, all the photos are of dairy items I now only enjoy on special occasions. And they are much better than photos of their non-dairy alternatives :)
So this lead me to dairy free journey, cause even with the lack of makeup, creams etc. I was still suffering from cystic acne on my chin and the occasional pump to ruin my makeup free lifestyle choices. I thought, why not? It was just the next trial and error to the list of acne destruction methods. I will say my acne is more hormonal, and I know it could be worse, but I was getting to the WTF point with some of my reoccurring blemishes.
Starting in November I slowly started to become dairy free. By Thanksgiving, I was fully committed and by Christmas I was starting to see the benefits. It really did help! It wasn't a cure all and I still followed my pretty strict no makeup rules and acne regimes, but I was starting to see overall clearer skin and a smoother skin texture.
THEN the holidays happened, and well I went off the deep end and in January my face paid the price! As well as my puffy, bloated belly. As I get back on my strict no dairy lifestyle I will admit it can be a pain and sometimes a good cheese plate just can't be passed up, but overall staying 90% dairy free has helped my skin and my bloating. It does take awhile and won't completely clear up your skin, but my zits aren't as big and aggressive and I seem to more glow to my skin. You def have to commit and of course treat yourself every once and a while, but once you switch to almond milk in your coffee and if you're a yogurt eater, coconut milk yogurt is the way to go, I am sure you will feel better and see some results!
Here are a few of my new favorite products:
Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla milk (coffee, cereal)
so delicious coconut milk yogurt
so delicious dairy free cheese
Ben & Jerry nondairy ice cream
alternative baking peanut butter cookies
Oreos
