how to get drunk in a wine town: Charlottesville addition

Okay so its been a few months since my last post, I know I'm being a slacker.

2019 has been super crazy all because we are moving to England in August!  So I fully plan on getting back into high gear when it comes to blogging, so those few people out there reading this get fucking excited!!!

In other news, this week I took a little mother daughter trip to Charlottesville to relax and drink a little wine. A little is an understatement and let me tell you at one point mixing white, rose and red was a major kick to the head, but like a champ I powered through it and got a few good pictures as well!

I've done an earlier post on Charlottesville last summer and was lucky enough to try all new wineries and breweries. The beautiful think about Cville (sorry I'm getting lazy) is there are so many booze centered, idyllic farmhouses to get white girl wasted. You can go there for a week and not try the same place twice!

So here we go.....
Kings Family Vineyary located in Crozet, VA. This was one of my favorite spots we stopped at this trip. On Sundays they host free polo matches on the property and I know I'd love to live out my waspy dreams of drinking lots of wine, wearing white pants and watching a polo match! As for their wines, my favorite was the Crosé and Viognier. I once considered myself a red wine drinker, but I do like a good Viognier. We just did a tasting to help prevent premature drunkenness.

I didn't get a picture of the polo field, but it is to the left of this large piece of land.

The owners are from Texas so there is a subtle Texas ranch vibe, that I matched perfectly.

My second favorite winery is Jefferson Vineyards. Located on the opposite side of town, this is my go to spot. It's close to downtown, only 20 minutes MAYBE  and has beautiful views. Again I go with the Viognier here. This was the first place I had ever had it and am one for nostalgia. They offer a great tasting and have tons of places to set up a picnic or impromptu photo shoot.

On our tasting journey we stopped in to this new (to us) vineyard called Flying Fox . We didn't try a single wine, we just went for their vermouth. We got to taste the Summer Sweet vermouth and it was pretty good, I think... I mean I'm pretty sure it was good cause we totally bought a bottle. It was nice on its own, but if your fancy as fuck or creative you can def make some amazing cocktails with it!

Our most indulgent stop was Blue Mountain Brewery. At this point we were 4 wineries in and had no business drinking any more, but we were a glutton for punishment and charged forward.  We thought " hey, lets just get a flight, a few samples nothing one has to commit a lot to. Well we were fucking wrong, their flight is a small 10 tasters that equate to 2 beers and we got 2 tasters. I tried a little of each one, but left most of them. I have no shame, throwing up in the car would have been worse than leaving some beer behind. It was close  to Flying Fox and Veritas Vineyard so it's a perfect trifecta!

It was worth it just for this ridiculous photo!

I'm sure our waitress was like "these bitches just made me pour 20 mini beers and they barely drank anything"

My favorite spot overall is Carter Mountain Orchard! They have wine, a Bold Rock tasting room and fresh fruit and APPLE CIDER DONUTS! When you enter the orchard off to the back there is a small wine tasting room with Prince Michel Wines, I went with the wine slushy and it was AMAZING! It was peachy and alcoholy and slushy, making it the dangerously delicious drink we all need in our lives.  Also, it's located on the top of a "mountain" and has gorgeous views of downtown Cville. Get there early cause it does get crowded  OR go for some of their many later evening events!

I was living my best life. Clearly.
After a quick brain freeze I moved on to Bold Rock, located in the lower level of the main building and got their Barrel Barn Exclusive Tasting. Their small batch was their ginger turmeric cider which I am obsessed with. The Roast was interesting, but not my favorite. It's a coffee cider combo, that seems perfect, but a bit to weird for my taste.

If you go for nothing else, go for the views!

Before we got to crazy on our first day we went to Pollak Vinyards and again beautiful views and good wine, blah blah blah. It's near King Family and has a nice and open tasting room. I got Rose and can't tell you anything more aside from it was pink and got me a little more tipsy. A job well done.

All those french doors and windows were amazing.

Finally, we had FOOD! And let me tell you 1 tasting and 2 glasses later, it was the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had! At Veritas Vinyard they have a cool sandwich shop at the winery. We went with a cheese (it was white, could have been goat) and fig panini and a turkey club. It was so good and is a part of my trifecta tour; Flying Fox, Veritas and Blue Moutain. Also, ask for the tasting discount coupon for Flying Fox here, they work together! Everyone loves a discount, your welcome!

An I end of a high note! I haven't drank that much in a 24 hour time period, but it was just the kind of relaxing trip I needed during this crazy time!
